Bamboo Walk – 17th July – Zoe’s Blog

This morning we got up at five to go for a walk through a bamboo forest. We were surrounded by silence except for the sounds of crows cawing in the early morning sunlight. All around us was a thicket of bamboo. The bamboo was ten times taller than dad, and 15 times taller than me. The sun was shining through the trees creating patterns on the concrete.

We walked a bit further through the paths and found a small temple. It was guarded by a tori (an archway). Inside it was decorated with reds, whites and blacks.

For the whole of the walk it seemed like we were in a different world.
