Yesterday we arrived in Hiroshima. Once we had got off the train we checked into our apartment. Then we took a short walk to the peace park.
The Peace Park is a park dedicated to the over 100,000 people who died in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. It was also about how Japan decided to be peaceful after the bombing.
We went into the museum all about it. Basically the story is that WWII had ended and Japan had been defeated but their Emperor refused to surrender. So the American president Truman decided that the best way was to bomb them with the first atomic bomb. Hiroshima was blasted into the ground and turned to ashes. The museum was about the horrendous things that happened. I’m very glad that I wasn’t there in 1945.
The room we are staying in is lovely. Now that we are back on track after the typhoon delays our holiday is going well.
